The CancerAware Story in Numbers


As we mark 10 years of CancerAware, we look back with gratitude at how far we have come.


From our first #WeWearPink Breast Cancer Campaign in 2015 to reaching millions with our message, the last decade has been one of advocacy, action and impact. Below is a snapshot of our journey so far, told through the numbers that reflect lives touched, communities impacted and change created.

  • 20,000: Women benefited from our free cancer prevention and early detection services including mammograms, breast ultrasounds and Pap smears.

  • 300,000+: People educated about cancer through our public awareness and community health engagement campaigns.

  • 20,000,000+: People reached through our digital media campaigns.

  • 100,000+: Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials distributed, brochures, flyers, videos and guides.

  • 1,840: Women supported with free cancer treatment and post treatment care.

  • 43,317: People signed our online petition to introduce the HPV vaccine into Nigeria’s routine immunisation programme.

  • 24: Programmes launched.

  • 80: Corporate partners and brands supporting our mission.

  • 25,000+: Helpline calls, email and website enquiries responded to.

  • 64: Media features across TV, radio and print.

  • 680: Volunteers who have contributed their time and passion to our work.

  • 100,000+: Website visitors from over 80 countries with our top 10 audiences coming from Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, India, the Philippines, Canada, the Netherlands, South Africa, Germany and Indonesia.
