Call Your Doctor Day is today, June 12th, 2018. At CancerAware, we want to remind YOU to take a minute TODAY and schedule a wellness checkup with your doctor or at any reputable diagnostic centre.
Having a Wellness check at least once a year is one of the most important actions you can take for your breast and cervical health. Even when you feel healthy you still need to get it done.
We are also sharing the story of Dorine, one of our followers in the UK who recently had her cervical screening done.
"Hello CancerAware, I had my Cervical screening test about 4 months ago. Before then, I had received several letters from the NHS to schedule an appointment but I was reluctant; perhaps from fear of the unknown.
Eventually I attended the local GP surgery and booked an appointment. The day came, my sample was taken (Pap Smear) and two weeks later I got a letter stating they had found abnormal cells on my cervix and they had to be removed.
A few days later, another letter came through for my minor procedure; Colposcopy treatment was done and the abnormal cells were removed.
I am so relieved the abnormal cell changes on my cervix were caught early and treated. Prevention is better than cure and early detection definitely saves lives.
This is my story."
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, Dorine! We are glad you took action and got your test done.
