Although October is designated as the global month for Breast Cancer Awareness, the reality is, breast cancer happens every day. Every 50 seconds, somewhere in the world, a woman dies from breast cancer.
In 2020, there were an estimated 684,996 deaths from breast cancer. A disproportionate number of these deaths occur in low-resource settings. Since 2017, CancerAware has designated the month of October to primarily raise funds for low income and indigent women facing a breast cancer diagnosis who are unable to afford the cost of their treatment. We tagged this project the #31DaysOfPINK Breast Cancer Campaign. The funds raised from the campaign go towards chemotherapy, surgery, medications, diagnostic tests and welfare of the beneficiaries. Below is our impact and the breakdown of the treatment and support we provided from the October 2021 campaign. Thank you to everyone who supported us.
