Free Breast Cancer Screening - World Cancer Day 2017

Every year, February 4th is the day designated to mark World Cancer Day.

It is a global event with the aim to save millions of preventable cancer deaths by raising awareness and educating about the disease.

To commemorate this year's World Cancer Day, we had two events over the course of the week.

The first of this was a free breast cancer screening exercise for women.

The one-day event took place on Wednesday the 1st of February at the Department of Radiotherapy of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH).

A total of 140 women were screened with the majority receiving clinical breast exams and mammograms.

They were also given a cancer health talk and a demonstration of how to perform breast self examinations by Resident Oncologist, Dr Olukiran of the Department of Radiotherapy, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH)

The event was done in collaboration with the Department of Radiotherapy, LUTH, the Association of Radiation and Clinical Oncologists of Nigeria (ARCON) and Sebeccly Cancer Care.

Total E & P Nigeria Cooperative Society supported the event by donating 100 mammograms.

Here are some photos from the event.
