What's in Your Skincare Products?

#BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

Many of the everyday products we use especially skincare products contain endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs).

These chemicals affect female hormones particularly the hormone estrogen. Many of these chemicals have a chemical structure similar to estrogen which means they can increase the hormone in your body which can spur the growth of certain types of #BreastCancer and may increase one's risk of developing the disease.

Make sure your body creams, shampoos and other skincare products are free from harmful chemicals such as Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Formaldehyde, Phthalates, Dyes, synthetic Fragrances, e.t.c. even the supposedly organic products.

Makeup needs to be free from Mineral oil and Petroleum which are currently the basic ingredients in many cosmetics.

There are several free resources that help you check the ingredients in your skincare products are safe. These include @environmentalworkinggroup @thinkdirty @letsclearya
